Community Manager – Travbyen in Billund
Join us in bringing Travbyen to life – a new urban area in Billund where play, community, and sustainability thrive.
KIRKBI is constructing an innovative urban development project in Billund called Travbyen. This 200,000 m² urban area will be a vibrant residential community rooted in the principles of play, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability. With an aim to develop 550 new housing options, including apartments, city houses, urban villas and studios for young people, we are committed to creating a lively community that reflects Billund’s aspiration to be the Capital of Children. This includes common facilities such as community houses, guestrooms and the Green Heart - a large outdoor recreational area. The first phase, with 170 housing units, is scheduled to be completed in late 2026.
Urban community builder with a meaningful vision
We are looking for a visionary Community Manager to lead and shape the cultural and social environment of Travbyen. This role is at the heart of our mission to create an inclusive and vibrant urban area that prioritises quality of life and social interaction.

- Establish a foundation for the effective operation of a variety of community facilities such as guestrooms, community house, recycling society, parking spaces etc. in cooperation with the facility management team.
Driven by Learning Through Play and a skilled relationship builder
You have a real commitment to incorporating play into community development and urban living. Using your great ability to form and nurture relationships across diverse groups, you can inspire and mobilise volunteers, residents, and public sector partners.
We expect you to have the following qualifications:
- An educational background within social sciences (e.g. social economy or anthropology) or within marketing or service management. Alternatively, you could be a Kaospilot or a trained teacher, with skills within community building from either boarding school, folk high schools or other relevant volunteer work.
- Experience in community involvement projects and public engagement activities.
- Experience within urban development, service design and business model creation would be beneficial.
- Fluency in Danish and English.
Furthermore, you can identify with the following personal qualities:
- A visionary and creative mindset – enabling you to imagine new and better ways of enriching community life.
- Great organisational skills – which you will bring into play when you plan and oversee projects and events to promote community growth.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills – enabling you to mobilise strong relationships with public-sector partners, residents and volunteers.
To ensure the necessary presence, we expect you to live within driving distance of Billund.
